Jumping on board as an adult

Body image is, in today’s society, very important to most people and, whilst appearances in the past may not have affected daily life, it can have a deep-rooted impact on our emotional health when unhappy with a particular part of our body. With masks being worn in public and social distancing in place, it is easy to get into the habit of hiding our smiles rather than working to improve them. But, with the help of our dental team, here at Smile Care Dental Clinic, you can bring your smile out of hiding with Invisalign Leicester!

Clear aligners fit snugly, as they are created from digital scans and x-rays of your teeth. Invisalign Leicester is a treatment option that will work itself seamlessly into your daily life, allowing your smile to shine brightly and confidently.

How to get started

During your dental appointment, you may be asked what your aim for your smile is. If you have a new goal, then let our dental team know so that we can start at the beginning and work together to give you a smile you can feel confident in. As soon as our dental team is aware, a consultation will be booked to discuss all the options open to you. Whilst we will always do our best to provide you with the treatment that you want, it is important to understand that many factors affect this and, therefore, our dental team will discuss the positive and negative sides to each. This is not to put you off treatment but is to ensure that you fully understand all your alternatives and which ones are most suited to you.

During the primarily verbal consultation, a thorough examination of the teeth, mouth and gums will be carried out along with a series of photographs, digital scans and in some cases, x-rays. This thorough process can then be used to compose a 3D plan that will allow you to visualise the result of your treatment and, if Invisalign Leicester is for you, aid us in creating the series of retainers.

What to expect after the consultation

Following your discussion with our dental team regarding your straightening options, you will be called in for another appointment where your retainers will be provided. This generally happens within about 1 to 2 weeks. During this appointment, we will show you how to effectively use the retainers and provide you with any other instructions such as how to clean and change your retainers. To gain the result within the quickest time possible, it is important to follow the plan set out for you.

Once the retainers have been provided, regular check-up appointments will be scheduled around every 4 to 6 weeks. This will allow us to assist with your overall progress, make any tweaks to the treatment plan if necessary and answer any questions that you may have. After your smile has straightened to your liking, a final retainer will be fabricated which you must wear to maintain the new positioning of your teeth.
